Picton Big Cats

Hi Mike,

Just stumbled upon your website and thought I'd send you an email.

I'm originally from Picton NSW although I live in Melbourne now. I used to catch the train from Picton to Central every day from Feb 2007 to May 2010. I can't remember exactly when it was, it would have been last year sometime, I was on the train home between Douglas Park and Picton, and I saw in the grass about ten meters from the train tracks one of these giant black cats.

Now, I'm not really a cat person, but even so, I could tell that this cat was MUCH larger than either your standard pet cat or even a wild cat. It was huge. I stand at 5' 2" and I reckon if I had been standing next to it, it would have easily come up to my mid-thigh in height. It looked right at the train, but seemed very unphased by it, and just continued watching.

Its face wasn't even like a normal cat face. It looked much more fierce, and its fur looked rather rough. It really did look like a panther!

I never saw it again, but I'll never forget it. I truly believe these big cats do exist around the Picton-Appin area, there's just too many sightings to doubt it!

Cheers,

Kylie
