Just a short note to advise I saw a very large black cat/panther on our new property last week. I had no idea what it was and had never heard of the tales of panthers in Australia. I am from Brisbane and have lived at ####### for the past 4 years on small acreage. We decided to sell and get our dream cattle/horse farm at ###### and we are currently clearing this and preparing to build a house in the near future. Last weekend while driving my tractor down to “grade” the road which is damaged from rain, the large cat ran across in front of me at high speed. Approx 25 metres away.
The thing that struck me was the very long tail, much longer than a large cat. It was about the size of a large rottie but longer and lower perhaps. I saw another black animal near the same area yesterday, but could not say what it was only that it was also black and moved in the grass quick.
I am becoming curious as to what it could be?? Our property is on ###### ########t Road in ####. I’m sure there is a simple explanation, but interesting none the less.
My mother in law says it must be a feral cat?? I will go and look at the dam to see if there are any tracks this weekend. Arrow below shows where sighted…
